One of the greatest Chick Flicks of the 80’s!
Diane Keaton plays J.C. Wiatt a successful career driven woman living in Manhattan. Known as the “Tiger Lady” among her colleagues, J.C. is married to her work. A sudden inheritance from a distance cousin finds J.C. excited that she may come into a substantially amount of money. Maybe enough to buy that country home she been dreaming of! Shockingly, the inheritance is in the form of an orphaned baby girl!? J.C. finds herself torn between raising the girl or giving her up for adoption. Her career mindset leans towards the latter, but her heart the former. Eventually J.C. looses her job because of demands of motherhood. Forced to make a new life for herself, J.C. decides to go ahead and buy that country home in Vermont and in doing so embarks (accidentally) on a new career path making gourmet baby food. J.C. finds herself in the end loving motherhood, finding romance and having major success with her new business venture. So much so, that her former colleagues want to buy her business out.

I LOVE this movie. Diane Keaton is brilliant in this movie. Her spastic behavior, which she is known for, fits beautifully in this film. A fast paced, work-a-holic, has everything she has ever wanted, then out of nowhere a baby is thrown into her life and everything becomes chaos. But through that chaos, she discovers that she had been missing out on life and that fame and riches simply weren’t enough to make one happy–there truly was more to life than working, status, and prestige. Of course she has to go through major trials and financial losses along the way, but in the end, she gets the baby, a new man in her life (who also happens to be yummy) and a great sense of accomplishment because she now knows who she is!
