Where did this term “Chick Flick” come from and when did it first come into use? (I’ll get back to you on this one)
Defining the term “Chick Flick” can get a little tricky today, because many films(seeking mass appeal) could be coined a “Chick Flick.” In general terms, a Chick Flick is any film whose main audience would be women. More specifically, a Chick Flick would have women as their main characters and be told from the perspective of a woman.
A Chick Flick could be a drama, comedy, romance, action movie, documentary or horror film. However, most Chick Flicks fall into the Romance & Comedy (Rom-Com) category.
If all else fails, ask your husband, boyfriend, dad or brother if it is a particular movie is a Chick Flick.
